Adult Clay Classes
Beginning Wheel (Adult)
This class is an introduction to working with clay on the potter’s wheel. You will learn the basic techniques of working on a wheel and explore various forms, such as bowls, mugs, and vases. You will also be introduced to some decorating techniques with slips, oxides, and glazes in the high-fire gas kiln. Wear old clothes and bring a one-gallon bucket, a towel, and a basic pottery tool kit*. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is for individuals with little to no experience.

Intermediate Wheel (Adult)
In this class, you will sharpen and hone your throwing skills. Lids, handles, feet, and larger forms will be covered with the thought that you are now in charge of the clay – it doesn’t tell you what to do anymore! Bring a small bucket, towel, and pottery tool kit* to class. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is for individuals with previous wheel experience.

Majolica
Have lots of fun learning about a great European pottery tradition, majolica! Explore the history and process of this colorful and expressive glazing and decorating technique that has been around for centuries. Majolica is a process that begins with a white glaze over smooth, red terra cotta clay and is then decorated with intense pigments, similar to watercolor. Bring a small bucket and basic pottery tool kit*. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is designed for both the beginner and experienced student.

Beginning Hand Building
Learn a multitude of techniques to create slab and coil vessels and sculptures. In this class you will explore wet and stiff slab construction, texturing and adding surfaces to your slabs, and constructing through various coil methods. This class is meant for both the beginning and experienced hand builder – we will not be using the wheel as a tool for clay work. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs.

Kids Clay Classes
Teen Sculpture
A fun class for first time and continuing teen students, ages 13-18 years old. Students will learn various construction methods for creating clay sculptures. You will learn about contemporary sculptors and sculptural methods.

Kids Clay (Grades 1-3)
Have fun as you create a wild jungle scene and all of the creatures that inhabit it! Is your jungle located on a fiery volcanic island or is it a thick, lush rain forest? Many of the jungle natives wear fun and scary masks; create your own jungle mask, too.

Kids Clay (Grades 4-6)
Create your own series of containers to keep all of your treasures safe. Make your own piggy bank, jewelry box, treasure chest, and cookie jar. Make secret chambers, decorate them, and make each one your own.

Adult and Child Pottery (Grades K-3)
Learn together and from each other. Through individual and collaborative projects you and your child will explore the possibilities that clay has to offer. Glaze application and special decorative effects will be included. This class is for individuals with little to no experience.

Glass Classes
Glass Fusing (Adult)
This is an introductory class in glass fusing. You will learn the fundamentals of glass fusing: cutting glass, laying it out in creative ways, and fusing it together to create unique designs and projects. You will learn how to use a wide variety of glass materials including frit, stringers, confetti, and flat glass. You will have the freedom to make small jewelry pieces, window art, magnets, and holiday ornaments. Tuition includes some glass, some firing costs, and open studio time. No glass experience is required.

Glass Fusing for Teens
Come join the fun as you learn how to work with kiln fired glass. You will learn the fundamentals of glass fusing. Students will learn to cut glass, lay it out in creative patterns, and then fuse it together in a kiln to create your own designs. We will explore color theory and use what we learn to get the most out of our glass creations. You will take home several fused pieces. No glass experience is required.

Glass Fusing and Slumping
Learn about fusing and slumping your glass projects into colorful and usable trays, bowls, and decorative objects. You will work with larger pieces of glass with more space to compose and design with color. Molds will be provided and new techniques will be discussed. Tuition includes some glass, some firing costs, and open studio time. Fusing experience is required.
