Adult Clay Classes
Beginning Wheel (Age 16+)
This class is an introduction to working with clay on the potter's wheel. You will learn the basic techniques of working on a wheel and explore various forms, such as bowls, mugs, and vases. You will also be introduced to some decorating techniques with slips, oxides, and glazes in the high-fire gas kiln. Wear old clothes and bring a one-gallon bucket, a towel, and a basic pottery tool kit*. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is for individuals with little to no experience.

Have lots of fun learning about a great European pottery tradition, majolica! Explore the history and process of this colorful and expressive glazing and decorating technique that has been around for centuries. Majolica is a process that begins with a white glaze over smooth, red terra cotta clay and is then decorated with intense pigments, similar to watercolor. Bring a small bucket and basic pottery tool kit*. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is designed for both the beginner and experienced student.

Learn about a variety raku firing techniques. The workshop will include glazed and horsehair raku techniques. You will also be given basic and advanced forming instruction. This class concludes with an all-day firing, during which you will get to try each type of firing technique. Bring a small bucket and basic pottery tool kit*. This class is designed for both beginner and experienced students. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs.

Explore a variety of thrown and hand building techniques to create a series of unique and specific projects. We will concentrate on making functional objects that can be used every day. Regular demonstrations will be given and you will be encouraged to develop your own style within each project. Through the completion of this series of projects, you will learn a new range of construction and decoration techniques which you will be able to take on to any other work you choose to make later. Bring a small bucket and basic pottery tool kit*. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is designed for both the beginner and experienced student.

Glazing, Firing, and Functional Forms (Age 16+)
Learn about some history as you learn the origins and idiosyncrasies of a variety of functional ceramic forms. Good studio glazing techniques and some technical firing knowledge will be emphasized as well. Bring a small bucket, towel, and pottery tool kit* to class. Tuition includes one bag of clay, glaze materials, open studio time, and some firing costs. This class is for individuals with previous wheel experience.

Kids Clay Classes
The Handmade Dinner Table (Adult and Child, grades K-5)
Bring your growling belly and a tasty meal in mind as you design and make a series of dishes and accessories for your own dinner table. Plates, bowls, serving dishes, salt and pepper, and more! You will have the most unique dinner table on the block when class is done. No experience is required. All materials are provided.

Intro to the Wheel and Glazing Techniques (grades 6-10)
Cups, bowls, bottles, and vases: learn how to throw these - and other forms - on the potter's wheel. In addition to developing the basic techniques in wheel-forming clay, you will have the opportunity to explore interesting ways to finish your pots using high-temperature glazes. No experience is required. All materials are provided.

Glass Classes
This is an introductory class in glass fusing. You will learn the fundamentals of glass fusing: cutting glass, laying it out in creative ways, and fusing it together to create unique designs and projects. You will learn how to use a wide variety of glass materials including frit, stringers, confetti, and flat glass. You will have the freedom to make small jewelry pieces, window art, magnets, and holiday ornaments. No glass experience is required.

Glass Fusing for Teens (Age 13+)
Come join the fun as you learn how to work with kiln fired glass. You will learn the fundamentals of glass fusing. Students will learn to cut glass, lay it out in creative patterns , and then fuse it together in a kiln to create your own designs. We will explore color theory and use what we learn to get the most out of our glass creations. You will take home several fused pieces. No glass experience is required .

Learn about fusing and slumping your glass projects into colorful and usable trays, bowls, and decorative objects. You will work with larger pieces of glass with more space to compose and design with color. Molds will be provided and new techniques will be discussed. Fusing experience is required.
